The School of Humanities and Communication Arts at the University of Western Sydney is currently seeking a scholar with outstanding teaching and research strengths to be appointed to the position Professor or Associate Professor in Philosophy.
Philosophy at UWS comprises the Philosophy Major and the Philosophy@UWS Research Initiative. The Philosophy Major was established in 2013 and already has a strong undergraduate and postgraduate student body, and an active teaching group. ) understands philosophy in an inclusive way, bringing into contact traditional philosophical questions with neighbouring disciplines such as political theory, literature and the visual arts.
This is a research leadership position and the successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership for the Philosophy@UWS Research Initiative, contribute to the internationalization of Philosophy@UWS, and to make a significant contribution in planning for external funding applications. The successful applicant will also take a leading role in planning the various research projects organized by Philosophy@UWS and also in generating new projects.
The applicant will already have an international research profile as evidenced by high quality publications and a vision to further extend their research in the future. The successful applicant is expected be active in one or more of the key research areas of the Philosophy Research Initiative. These include: - Modern and contemporary European philosophy - Political theory - Aesthetics.
