Philosophy syllabi in Australia and Aotearoa/NZ have historically been focused primarily on the work of philosophers racialised as White. In this professional development session, philosophers will discuss the various strategies they’ve employed to develop more diverse and inclusive syllabi, and offer practical advice for those who would like to do the same.

Drawing on events surrounding the sustained booing of Adam Goodes in the Australian Football League 2013 and 2014 seasons, this free, NAIDOC Week event that will be held as part of the Conference will focus on racism in Australian public life. This free public philosophy event will involve a screening of Ian Darling’s masterful documentary, “The Final Quarter”, followed by a panel discussion, to discuss the history and contemporary nature of racism in Australian sport and public life.
All conference registrants are welcome to attend, but space is limited.
