The association has originated in the idea of publishing in Australia a journal devoted to psychology, philosophy, and social science. The membership of the association is already over 500, distributed among all the States of Australia and New Zealand, and the first issue of the Journal has rapidly sold out. The association's officers for the present year belong to five Australasian universities.

Now in our Centenary year, as the AAP, we celebrate our history and achievements, acknowledging the dedicated service of our Members, Office Bearers and Volunteers.
The aspirations of our founders have surely been realised. The AJP, appearing without a break, is world-leading and available in libraries throughout the world. Membership is distributed throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and around the world. Our Officers and Committee Members belong to twenty-seven Australasian and overseas universities, in equal numbers of men and women.
The autonomy of philosophy and psychology is firmly established. The next 100 years will see the flourishing of the discipline through continued cooperation of staff, students and all interested in philosophy, supporting and promoting its diversity in universities, schools and through robust public engagement.
