2011 VAPS conference: “Dare to Think: Philosophy in Schools”
PLEASE NOTE REVISED DATES: Friday 3 – 5 June 2011
Venues:
Friday 3 June: 5pm Cocktail party in the Melbourne Museum’s ‘Mind/Body Gallery’
Saturday 4 June and
Sunday 5 June: Centre for Theology & Ministry, 29 College Crescent (between Ormond College and St Hilda’s College), Parkville VIC.
Presentations/workshops/seminars are invited on any topic related to the teaching of philosophy and ethics in schools, as well as philosophy for children, the philosophy of childhood and the teaching of critical and creative thinking in schools. We particularly welcome proposals on the following topics:
• Ethics and religion in schools (including in relation to human rights education)
• Philosophy in the middle school curriculum
• Resources and ideas for teaching VCE philosophy
• Film in the philosophy classroom
Presentations could be in the following formats:
• Presentation of research papers
• Presentation of teaching resources and/or methods
• Facilitation of a workshop
• Facilitation of a community of inquiry
• Display of a book, journal or resource
