Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Otago
Applications are invited for a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Otago. The position is full-time, fixed-term for 18 months starting on 10 January 2013.
Candidates should have demonstrated strengths or potential in teaching and research, and have completed or be about to complete a PhD degree. The successful applicant would be expected to teach a large introductory ethics course and a 200/300 level metaphysics course in 2013. They would repeat one of those courses in the first semester of 2014. They would also be expected to undertake research and to take on some minor administrative responsibilities.
The Philosophy Department at Otago falls squarely within the analytic tradition, broadly construed, and is committed to assisting staff to achieve their individual research goals. The Department has been rated New Zealand’s highest performing research department in all subjects in the last two national Performance Based Research Fund assessments (
