The Philosophy Programme in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand seeks an early career lecturer. This is a full-time position (equivalent to US tenure-stream Assistant Professor). The areas of specialisation and competence are open but preference will be given to candidates whose areas include one of the following: metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of language, logic, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of mind (including cognitive science), philosophy of science, or philosophy of social science.
Minimum requirements for the position include a PhD in Philosophy or closely related field. The candidate should have a developing, high-quality programme of original research and relevant teaching experience. Familiarity with the processes of attracting external research funding and the ability to supervise masters and doctoral students is desirable.
The successful candidate will join an active, motivated team of academics who value a wide range of methodologies and approaches to the discipline. The programme has existing strengths in empirically-informed philosophy, such as experimental philosophy and applied ethics.
