The Catholic Institute of Sydney seeks to appoint a full-time lecturer in Philosophy. The position will be available from the beginning of 2016. The successful applicant will be teaching across the curriculum at undergraduate level and offering specialised units at graduate level. He/she will also be expected to contribute to the research culture of CIS and to undertake relevant administrative duties.
Essential criteria: appropriate qualification at the level of doctorate; an interest in teaching Philosophy in a theological context; an interest in teaching the history of Philosophy, Moral Philosophy and Metaphysics; familiarity with Greek Philosophy and Medieval Philosophy; a demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and learning in higher education; evidence of research, publication and teaching ability.
The salary for lay people will be commensurate with academic classification and will be worked out by negotiation. Priests and Religious will be paid according to the regular stipend.
CIS is an ecclesiastical faculty and a member institution of the Sydney College of Divinity. Degree courses are accredited at undergraduate and graduate levels. The diverse student body includes candidates for ordination and other lay men and women. All staff are expected to subscribe to the mission and ethos of the Catholic Institute of Sydney.
