Professorial Appointment in Philosophy

The University of Wollongong is seeking to make a senior appointment
(level E, Full Professor) in Philosophy. Applicants should have
teaching and research expertise in at least two of the following
areas: Applied Ethics, Epistemology, Philosophy of Mind/Cognition,
and/or Philosophy of Science. Extensive experience in teaching and an
excellent research portfolio are essential. Applicants should also
have a strong record of research leadership, with experience in
winning national competitive grants.

Philosophy at the University of Wollongong is a small but high
performing group. We recently earned a score of 4 on the 5-point scale
used in the Australian Research Council’s assessment of research
excellence in Australia (ERA), making us one of the top-rated
philosophy programs in the country for quality of research. We are
looking for a candidate who will complement our existing strengths and
help expand and develop our program. We regularly host high-profile
visiting speakers in our research seminars and workshops, and we are
looking forward to hosting the next meeting of the Australasian
Association of Philosophy in July, 2012.
