Supporting Indigenous Participation in Academic Philosophy in Australasia

The Report, Supporting Indigenous Participation in Academic Philosophy in Australasia, commissioned in 2023 by the AAP Executive and overseen by the AAP Diversity Committee, has the following aims:

  • Identifying barriers to Indigenous participation and engagement in philosophy as an academic discipline;

  • Identifying challenges faced by Indigenous students and philosophers already in the discipline;
  • Describing current initiatives which address these barriers and challenges; and,
  • Developing further strategies to address these barriers and challenges, including suggesting initiatives that the AAP should support, coordinate, or pursue.

The Report was tabled at the AAP AGM in 2023 and endorsed by the membership.
