Undergraduate Afternoon

Philosophy undergraduates are invited to two accessible afternoon paper sessions, followed by a professional development session and social event in the evening.




HOWLING OWL QUIZ AND DRINKS

“The owl of Minerva spreads its wings only with the falling of the dusk.”

Bringing the Undergraduate Afternoon to a sociable conclusion, there will be a quiz and drinks night (Wednesday 5 July 7pm for 7.30pm) at the Howling Owl café and bar, 10 Vaughan Place, in Adelaide’s East End. The evening will feature a philosophy-themed quiz followed by drinks from the bar, with the first drink free for undergraduate members. Priority will be given in bookings for this event to undergraduate and postgraduate members of the Association.


Cost

AAP Undergraduate Members : Free

Non-Members : $20 AUD (includes AAP Undergraduate membership)

Registrations for the afternoon can be made via the registrations page.

NB: A discounted rate is offered to undergraduates who would like to attend the the full week. In these cases you should register for the conference and, once your membership is approved, also for the undergraduate afternoon.


AAP Conference - Undergraduate Bursaries

The Faculty of Arts of the University of Adelaide is funding up to 10 bursaries of $300 each to assist with the travel and accommodation expenses of undergraduate students who are interested in postgraduate study in Philosophy and would like to attend the conference but are unable to secure financial assistance to do so from their own university. Conference registration fees for bursary holders will also be waived. Applications for these bursaries are now open, and will close on Thursday 22 June. Applications should be sent by email to Dr Jon Opie at jon.opie@adelaide.edu.au, containing the following information:

1. Your name, contact details and current enrolment status.

2. A description of your interests in Philosophy.

3. Details of your interest in postgrad study and research project ideas.

4. Information about your academic performance to date.

5. An e-letter of support from a member of academic staff in your home Philosophy department, including a declaration that funds for undergraduate conference travel are not available from your university (or that you have unsuccessfully applied for them).

Successful applicants will be notified shortly after the closing date.
