The AAP is the professional organisation of academic philosophers in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. AAP call for Spending Proposals

AAP Council invites spending proposals from AAP members under the following three categories: applications for AAP grants, proposals for spending by AAP Council, and proposals for AAP prizes.

Applications in any of the following three categories should be sent to the AAP’s Executive Officer, Eliza Goddard, elizagoddard@aap.org.au, by 30th November 2008.

Applicants are asked to refer to the AAP Spending Proposal Guidelines (104.3KB doc)

The Committee of Senior Academics Addressing the Status of Women in the Philosophy Profession in Australia have released their Report: Improving the Participation of Women in the Philosophy Profession. Recommendations of the report will be discussed at the AAP Council and Annual General Meeting at the AAP Conference in Melbourne, 6-11 July.

Maurice Goldsmith died on Saturday 21st June 2008. Maurice was Editor of the Australasian Journal of Philosophy from 2002 to late 2007, during which time he was a member of AAP Council. Maurice was known to many in the Australasian philosophical community and will be greatly missed.

The 2007 conference of the Australasian Association of Philosophy (AAP 2007) was held from Sunday evening, July 1 to Friday lunchtime, July 6, 2007 at the Old Teacher's College, University of New England, Armidale, Australia.

The keynote speakers were Eleonore Stump, the Robert J. Henle Professor of Philosophy, St Louis University and William (Bill) Lycan, William Rand Kenan Professor, University of North Carolina.

Professor David Chalmers, ANU, Director of the Centre for Consciousness, presented the Presidential Address at the conference opening reception. more >>
